Situated on the east bank of the river Tiber, the entire landscape of the city is sited over huge Roman cisterns, with more than 500 pits, which remained in use until 1925. The most notable medieval monuments include the Todi Cathedral, Palazzo del Popolo, Palazzo de Capitano, Palazzo dei Priori and the San Fortunado Church (among others).
